One day a boy stole a book from another boy at school and gave it to his mother. Instead of chastising the boy, his mother gave him indirect encouragement. Soon after that he stole a watch from his neighbour's house. Again she praised him and took the watch. Stealing became quite a habit with him. In course of time a became a confirmed thief. One day he was cought red-handed and sentenced to death. As he was being led to the scaffold, he suddenly saw his mother. He said, "I will say something secret to my mother". So he was allowed to come closer to her. Then he bit off her ear. The mother called him names. But the boy said, "Now you call me names. But had you beaten me when I stole a book in my childhood, 1 would not have come to this tragic end".
